.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 616 AM CDT Thu Mar 19 2026
- Potential for elevated fire weather conditions over the Brush
Country and inland Coastal Plains daily through Monday
- Dry weather and warming trend continues through this upcoming
weekend

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 233 AM CDT Thu Mar 19 2026
No significant changes in the forecast from last issuance. An
amplified ridge over the SW CONUS will remain the dominant and
controlling feature for the next several days of weather over South
Texas. The ridge will slowly shift eastward and finally start to
weaken late this upcoming weekend, but ridging will remain the most
prominent influence into the middle of next week. Atmospheric
moisture will remain below normal over the next several days with
temperatures warming. By Friday, we`ll start to see highs in the 90s
become a common theme over the Brush Country for the foreseeable
future. Although high temperatures will be around 10 degrees warmer
than normal, low temperatures will be just a couple degrees warmer
than normal thanks to drier air and mostly clear skies promoting
radiational cooling. No rain chances are in the forecast.
Although winds will be light today, there are still elevated fire
weather concerns over the Brush Country where relative humidity (RH)
drops to 25-30% and fuels remain critically dry. Since the winds
will be even weaker today, I have held off on issuing an RFD at this
time, but this will need to be re-evaluated throughout the day.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 616 AM CDT Thu Mar 19 2026
Expecting fog to develop this morning leading to MVFR to IFR VSBYs
east and VFR west. Winds this afternoon will be somewhat variable
out of the southeast then veering south/southwest overnight
accompanied by VSBYs of MVFR to LIFR possible across eastern
terminals.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 233 AM CDT Thu Mar 19 2026
A gentle to moderate (BF 3-4) south to southeasterly breeze will
persist through this weekend. Winds will occasionally strengthen to
a fresh breeze (BF 5) over the bays and nearshore waters south of
Port Aransas this weekend. No rain chances are expected at this time
with seas between 2-4 feet.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 233 AM CDT Thu Mar 19 2026
Although winds will remain generally below critical criteria,
occasional wind gusts around 20 mph in combination with relative
humidity of 15-30% and critically dry fuels over the Brush Country
and inland Coastal Plains, will promote elevated fire weather
concerns. Since winds are notably weaker today, I have held off on
issuing any fire products but will need to be monitored. We can
expect similar conditions daily through early next week with the
addition of a warming trend.
